Another Channel Islands ANG 130J in the PMD pattern, this time shot from 50th east.

SCA 911 was in the pattern for quite a while this morning. Shot first from 50th East, then over to the notch where I ran into Jim (hope I don't duplicate your posts, Jim!) with his really long lens. The first few patterns were T&Gs, but they did a full stop, presumably to switch seats, so I was able to dash over to BJ's for the last few passes. Since we're coming up on the 4th, I thought one including the flag at BJ's to be appropriate.

Mixing it up in the pattern with the 747 were a C-12, an F-15 in a knife-edge after high-key, and a CH-46 (which some Marine grunt really needs to get out and clean the belly).

Thanks! When I heard the SCA come low over the house, I figured he'd be doing more than one approach and jumped in the car. Made for a fun morning.

That belly of that CH-46 is testament to the fact that that helicopter is 44-45 years old!!! The fact that it still flys means the Marines are working their tails off keeping those Seaknights flyable after all those years.  It maybe a while before west coast Marines at MIramar and Camp Pendleton see the Ospry.

I was way to far east by a couple of miles to catch that CH-46. Nice one!

Was courious why the NASA 747 was at Palmdale? is there a shuttle undergoing rework?

No shuttle. They need to run the aircraft every so often in order to keep the seals from drying out and keep up crew proficiency.
