B-17 tour stop "Aluminum Overcast" at Torrance Airport

April 10-12, 2009
Torrance, CA

Hosted by Torrance Air Fair Asso.

B-17 location on field – plane parked by Robison Helicopter

EAA is offering historic flight experiences in its beautifully restored B-17G Flying Fortress "Aluminum Overcast." One of only 14 Fortress's still flying, this aircraft is an icon of the Allied strategic bombing effort that helped turn the tide of battle in World War II. Unlike reading a history book, you can actually fly a mission back in time and feel the might of this magnificent machine, just as those brave young men did more than 60 years ago.

Saw it fly over 20 times this weekend over the Valley......stopped and looked up every time.

How cool ....only a P-51B on one wing and a P-38F on the other would of made it better.

I am going to try and make this one too with my Dad.  He enjoys seeing the warbirds and bombers.

She's here, flew in a few hours ago, just flew over again. I'm hearing they have two more flights left in the day. Gonna head down later, sometime after 4pm.

Media flights? I think the public flights start tomorrow. Which way are they departing?

Canon stuff.

You all have to go and see this historic aircraft. You don't have to buy a flight, but do make plans to see it. I hope you guys can get out on the ramp like I did at Gillespie Field.

It came in today already and at least made 2 flights.  Not going to make it but Robert and Robert take a lot of shots.  And Josh too.
