Code20Photog- Excellent shots!  I'm curious, what's going on in the first one?  The vertical tail fin of the 737 seems to be in front of the Emirates 777.  Did the 777 really take off that close?  That's really cool looking, whatever it was you managed to catch.

There is a taxiway between runway runways 25L and 25R that runs parallel nearly the entire length.

When you land on 25L, you're directed off the runway onto the center taxiway. This frees up 25L for additional landings and you can get more planes on the ground with a shorter distance between them.

It's a brilliant design. I've seen as many as 4 or 5 planes on the center taxiway waiting for the traffic to take off from 25R. Without it, the departing traffic would have to wait for all of those planes to get off 25L and across 25R before they could take off, or the landing planes would have nowhere to land with aircraft stacked up on 25L waiting to cross.

Here's the diagram of LAX

They want to do the same thing on the north side, but the residents north of the airport are very opposed to it.

That is brilliant.  Makes for a very interesting effect in pictures too.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get to see the new United Airlines post-merger livery, which is the same as Continental's but with the new United logo. Maybe next time.  :(

I'll be going to the LAX Marriott for a convention this coming weekend.  Hopefully, I'll have enough time to do some spotting.  Where are some close, but good, spots to the Marriot?

Reverse Pattern 01/03/2011.

As of 10 minutes ago when I walked in the apartment, they're still in reverse pattern. Have been all day. Totally unusual.

As long as the winds are blowing in from the east, They'll still be in reverse pattern for better lift.
