No, I won't be making it. :( To all those that are, enjoy the new Minimum Radius Turn to Tailstand. We watched that maneuver progress all through Winter Training and it is looking GOOD now. Since they flew it yesterday at the practice show, it kinda confirms that the FAA did indeed certify it as safe.  8)

The tailstand is performed while 5 is exiting the modified MRT right towards the crowd. It's really awesome, and it's going to be vapor city at Miramar.

It's true, it was right as the F-16/P-51 Heritage Flight was airborne.

It's common practice for them to block off Low Road during the actual airshow, but usually not for the practice day. We were all a little surprised that they suddenly decided to do so halfway through the day on friday... but oh well. We should be happy and consider ourselves blessed that we get to go out there period. I'm hoping something didn't trigger this, especially something that could endanger ANY of our normal Winter Training viewing. Because that would really suck.

There have been some yahoos lately acting wild out there. I don't know if it's true, but someone was also saying some dude in an RV pulled right up on top of the fence, just within feet of it-- and in the way of RWY30. Which spurred them to come kick everybody out. I didn't see that, but I wasn't really paying a lot of attention to the fence. If true, that's really annoying. People with no flippin' common sense don't belong out there.

Heard from Kitty (Blue Angel 4) ...he wanted to let everyone know that it was not the choice of the team for what happened yesterday. The FAA officials at the show pushed to have the area cleared out. They have the authority to stop the show if they deem something unsafe.

Thi B-25J recieved its Airworthiness Certificate in the fall of 2009 after being painstakingly rebuilt by the Arizona Wing of The Commorative Air Force. Named "Maid In The Shade" The 2010 NAF El Centro Air Show was the first air show it had participated in. The aircraft had not flown in 28 years until the Arizona Wing got it and put it back together. This B-25J has an original Norton Bomb Sight in the nose, mounted and viewable. Later I'll post a bunch of static shots of this aircraft.
