This is a great event in the South Bay with band, performers, fly-bys. Parade is on Saturday 17 with the USMC being the featured branch of the military. At the Del Amo Mall there will be exhibts and booth set up with military and law enforcement equipment and usually a helicopter or two as well. For me still up in the air with Chino that weekend too. Last time I shot from the Marriott parking lot, but that was just for the fly-bys
I'll definitely be there since I live on the parade route (Torrance & Greenwood) and cannot leave my driveway for quite a while.
Sounds like a plan ;)
I missed last years because of a wedding :(

2yrs or so ago had to go to my cousins 2nd wedding and at least got the fly-bys. Thats how I found the Marriot parking lot
But weddings are also good :D Lots of photographing can be done there too... :P

I might make it, maybe we should meet in front of John's? However the south/west corner of Maple and Torrance Blvd provides a great spot for shots cause of the bend. Thats where I shot last years from.
Yep, about the same for me but South East 8) I hope we get better weather than we have now ???
I'm going to be real bust at work... :'( lol You guys have fun. <apscs>
99% Chance I'll be there. Meeting spot anyone?
How about the area around the south side of Torrance Blvd. between the corners of Maple and Felbar Ave. say around 12:30-1:00 PM or so ;D
Great view of the flyovers <cheers>
Any word on what will be flying over?
I'll be in my front yard with family, anyone is welcome to stop by and say hi, grab a drink, or just hang out. Not the best place for the flybys, but good for everything else.
On Torrance Bl., South side, 3 doors East of Hickory. The house with the brown wood fence and brick light post.
John
BTW - anyone remember about 4 years ago when a couple F-14s did a flyby?

yes I do, I was on the parking structure next to Macy's and Robinsons and that was the Last time I saw Vandy-1 :'( :'( :'(
I think Maple and Felbar might be the better spot. I'll probably get there around 12:30 - 1pm. I'll try and drop by John. I'll be in black pants, black boots, black hat, dark gray shirt, black canon 5D and silver rebel with the white 100-400, Hard to miss. ;D I'll see about pining an APSC patch on my right sleeve too. ;)

Dressed about the same, black pants camo hat with the apsc logo. Not to sure about the shirt ??? and too much camera equipment ::)
Hung around at the mall today. Not much stuff. No tanks. :( They flew a UH-60C in, the pilot said they will depart Monday morning between 6 and 10am. Tried to find out about the fly-bys, no one had the info. Pics coming in a few.
I stopped too. Same as last year. IED vehicles weird but cool.
I have a source that should call me before the parade starts to find out what might be flying over ;)
Looks like it will be about 91 Deg. today >:D
Some quick ones from Friday at the mall

Great as always, bro. Looking forward to seeing all of the shots you guys got today.

What happens when you fly a Blackhawk helo too low over Torrance Bl.?
Anyway, it was an excellent parade with the best Blackhawk demo I've seen, even at an airshow. The four Hornets was a nice touch too.
Thanks Josh and Robert for stopping by, it was fun meeting you guys in person.
I'll post more when I get a chance to go through the shots.
They were low enough for the pilot to wave. Sweeeeet! Nice shots.
