Final landing at Plant 42. Brian remembers this.
Oh yeah, Damon tipped me off to it's arrival the day beforehand (major thanks!) and I got some really spectacular shots as they were running engine dry. Caught the initial high speed pass from the east side of the base, and then wandered over to the airport. I went back a few days later to watch the guys 'demil' it, and was invited out to get another closeup look. Unfortunately after taking one photo of the tail art, security came over, asked for my ID, and told me not to take any more. Got a bit of a chuckle out of that, since I had taken so many on the arrival.
Here's one more, from inside the nose gear wheel well.

When was this? And where? Sweet!!!
Heheh - I'll come clean on that shot. It's a computer job - the F-14 CAG bird was taken during VF-11s last visit to El Centro in March of 2005, combined with one of my 2006 Reno F-4 flyby shots. Since they were shot at similar angles, I thought they'd be perfect candidates for cloning into one photo.............
HAHA Thats very cool! :D

LOL, no, no Photoshop. Plan to get it eventually, but for now what I have is doing the job.
Yep that sure is amazing without photoshop. ;D

This <tcat> will no go to any museum. It will be cut up for scrap like all the <tcat> at AMARC at Davis-Monthan AFB. Some bureaucrat in DC still afraid the Irianians will get some thing they might already have. There is a museum in Chino that had 4 <tcat> at one time. I have heard the museum is in court trying to get the DOD and the Navy to let the museum keep all 4 of its <tcat> . I don't know where this going to end up. If any of you get to Chino look around and get some pics.
Yanks Air Museum F-14's that they had.

While you all were watching the Tomcats perform, I spent 17 years under the skin working in fuel cells, changing engines and later as a Quality Assurance Representative, looking into all areas of the Tomcat aircraft to see that things were in order, and signing off on safety of flight items.

1978,1979 is about the time when the Navy started painting all their aircraft with the now current low visibility paint schemes.
On Saturday July 19th I went to Willmar Municipal Airport (KBDH) in Willmar Minnesota and shot about 50 pics of F-14A BUNO 160914. The aircraft looks to be a very good condition overall. I'll put up some pics when I get Back on August 6th
