A few more for tomorrow night or Friday, but this was a nice surprise right after the SOFIA!  :)

SOFIA... Hmmm... strange "blister" there on the rear. Anyone know what the mission of that aircraft is?

It's an infrared telescope. The idea is to get above the majority of the water in the earth's atmosphere where the best infrared stargazing can be had. There used to be a C-141 that had a similar mission.

Thanks!  Because of my having to get back to the office, Brian almost had to shoot the C-17 and the Sofia by himself. It turned out that I made it back with 10 minutes to spare.  ;)

Finally! The chase was on Sofia's starboard side today!  ;D
