Thanks, man. I hope to go out there and shoot in the near future. I was going to wait until the Edwards show weekend but you guys get such great stuff from there that I can't wait.  ;D
This might help.  There are exits from the 14 Freeway for Ave P/Rancho Vista Blvd, Ave N and Ave M (go east after getting off freeway). Ave M also has LA County fire station 129 where a 412 or Firehawk is usually parked. Blackbird Airpark and the Palmdale Air Museum are open Fri/Sat/Sun on Ave P.
A couple other things besides what Jim said: Bring sunscreen and water - you'll need it!!

Wow...you actually found someone there?? Of all the times I've been out there, there's never been anyone around! Did you get a story on the place?

Without clouds, we sometimes resort to shooting at each other.  <rolf>

This is Michael at 1/20 hand held and Brian at 1/15 hand held.  :D

Hey Jim and Brian-- finally found the thread!

The B-2 in the dark lift off I shot at 1/6th SEC/ F5.6 @ISO 1600 only got a couple shots off:

That night the C-130 while we were shooting each other ;D

Jim, I heard back from Gray over at Dryden: "the DC-8 is flying some science instrument checkout flights in preparation for a deployment to South America in Oct. There are no media events planned at the moment."
Calendar note: Heard that the NASA DC-8 will be departing Oct 12 from PMD on the science mission.

More fun at PMD today, starting with a KC-135 from McCord, and including an Ameriflight B99 doing a touch and go. As you can see from the last one, the patter was pretty full at times. Brian caught stuff I didn't....

More from today. Found that when the CANG C-130s make their tactical approach, crossing midfield, the ideal place to shoot as they are in their tight turn is on 50th East, about a half mile south of N. There's a Joshua tree on the right side, and ample parking. We were a bit surprised to see a United 747-400 come overhead...he stayed fairly high, looked like he might have been going into VCV.
