Loved this shot from the SoCal Firestorms of October/November 1993. Epic fire season. Way more fires were burning than there were resources to work them. And the Santa Anas were relentless. Went on for 2+ weeks...

Seems odd they'd have Smokejumpers out here on the West Coast too.

Yep, they only fly them down here when we have a good chance of getting heavy lightning activity. They jumped on a lightning start on the ANF last week, and 2 in BDF.

Went out to Fox Field this afternoon to see if anything was flying in support of the Hill Fire down in the Cajon Pass...caught Tanker 910 high flying over Lancaster and a couple of Neptunes ending their day.

With the fire up by Tehachapi raging, I was able to shoot these at Fox Field from the side of the road. There's probably been enough to shoot all the way until dark, but I reached my limit and the vicodin wasn't doing much good for my legs. There should be some nice shots from the action out there when everybody gets home and get's them ready to post.   

I was really pleased with the second shot as I was able to catch the Neptune landing and lining up right in front of another P-2 on the ramp.

I thought you'd still be out there. Did the Bronco ever go up?

Nah, I only stayed til about 1pm.   When I drove down to Apollo Park, the Bronco was just sitting there between a couple of Neptunes that looked like they were having some work done.

Place was hopping, though.   Turn around time on the S2T's is impressive.
