Interesting shots, Alan. With those two power carts parked by the SR-71, Does this aircraft still fly? Whats the story of the C-141 look alike aircraft in the last pic?

Sadly, the SR-71 is on display in the Dryden parking lot. Don't know anything about the 141. North Base, where it's parked, is rather black. Or at least dark gray. I'm guessing by the nose that it has a mission somewhat like Voodoo1

Tried to find info but none.  Its in USAF colors so I don't think it was registered under nasa.  I will try the PAO.

Good luck! PAO probably will be mum about anything related to North Base.

QuoteAh yes the C-141A.  Ok what it is, is the C-141 ARTB.  Air Borne Radar Test Bed.  It came here from Wright Patterson AFB in the early 90s as part of BRAC as I recall.  Inside it had four or five computer stations for Flight Test Engineers.  That nose is the nose of an F-16 and its purpose was to test the radar and target acquisition systems of the F-16.  You can go to this web site to maybe learn a bit more and I will attach a fotoe as Cleseau would say.

Probably something like the CATBird for the F-35 JTSF.  Large testbed aircraft.

NASA Global Hawk from yesterday...
This is article one, article two took off approx 0700 that morning for a science mission of appox 24 hours and nearly 9,400nm. EAFB to Alaska, down near Hawaii and back to EAFB.  :)

I shot the display at ISO 800 and it was clear enough to crop for detail too.

Still can't go too far for too long due to finances, but caught this series today. The aircraft came straight in and landed east of where we were on taxiway Bravo at the hold short area, so no chance for an in flight shot however, the rest didn't turn out too badly.
Pilot for the flight was LtCol George H. (Hog) Griffiths who is also the JSF/ITF commander.

Statics

Note the head-on shot where I finally got the pitot tube to line up perfectly straight with no distortion as what usually happens to me in such a shot
