While we're on the subject, here's an OES Type 3 from Oceanside.  :) May be a repost.

Right, I wasn't sure if cash for maintenance came in the form of a grant or whatnot. Good call on the temporary use for the engine, Hemet has done that with theirs on occasion. Love the KME comment  <laughing>

From what I understand, in exchange for being able to use the OES rigs for intra-department uses, the department covers the costs of basic maintenance, oil, filters, pine tree air fresheners, wear and tear type items, and the state picks up the tab for any sort of major maintenance.

At least that is how it was explained to me a few years back.

Federal Fire Engine One at NAS North Island and the Ambulance from Fire Station One. This Station is located between runway 11-29 and the North Island base beach, just west of The Island Club. These guys come by the Midway Hanger periodically to look at the aircraft in work in our hanger. They also come by to check our Fire Extinguishers and our Haz Mat locker.  Todays visit was a social visit. Some of the volunteers think they were bored in the station house and just got on the truck and went for a drive.

Nice shot Damon.  Did they run out of funds to buy the S for the rear markings?  <laughing>
