The largest free public event in Nevada returns to Nellis Air Force Base Nov. 12-13 when the U.S. Air Force hosts Aviation Nation 2011-- the Nellis Air Force Base Open House and annual Las Vegas air show. The upcoming event celebrates 70 years of air power at Nellis, honoring our legacy going back to the first Army Air Force gunnery school established on this site in 1941.

Aviation Nation celebrates the work of America's military and its acheivements on land, at sea and in air, space and cyberspace. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the two-day event and are scheduled to be joined by several military air demonstration teams and some of the nation's top civilian air performers.

The two-day event also depicts the history of American aviation and salutes the recent accomplishments of America's military in operations around the globe through numerous additional military and civilian ground displays. Approximately 100 aircraft covering everything from the earliest days of aviation to some of the nation's newest military aircraft are scheduled to be on display.

Here is the schedule of events for both days. Note: times, performances and aircraft are subject to change.

I"m on the list for media, until they remember me from the OT incident.

So if the T-Birds fly for 30 minutes, the total flying time of this show is only 3.5 hours?  Granted it is a packed 3.5 hours, but still not a lot of flying for the "BIG" USAF show.

Good Lord that schedule is thin...  :-\

F-15 vs F-16 Aggressor demonstration, now that sounds cool...

I dunno, counting the demonstration teams as a single entity, there's at least 24 aircraft in the air over about a 4 hour period. Seems pretty decent, and who knows what's on static. Sometimes, there's a decent surprise or two.
