2010 thread: http://www.apsocal.com/index.php/topic,1625.0.html

I see that the POF Airshow tickets went on sale starting today. I also noticed they are going to have a chalet and grandstands. Does anyone know where they are going to put these two? I hope these don't take up a lot of the prime view areas at the show.

Kimball Ave.  All the crosswind takeoffs come right overhead.  Typically, P-51's, F-86 and so forth.  Since show center is a good ways off, most passes require 300+mm for any decent pictures.  The C-17 and F-16 demos from years past have usually been very interesting from that spot, since the min radius turn usually puts the a/c directly overhead.

It's not about skipping out on admission, as I really believe in and appreciate what Planes of Fame is doing; its about getting better photos.  Of course, that attitude has gotten me stopped an handful of times by police and military personnel ;-)

Anyone know where the turn back towards the field is after the center show pass? Anyone tried to shoot out there?

You mean where they start to head back in for flyby?  Seems a couple farms to the Northeast.
