I was By the CONA hanger today, and asked if there was going to be a dress rehersal flight on Friday February 11TH?

The answer was "NO" not like friday before an air show. Due to the close proxmity of Lindburgh Field Pre Saturday practices will most generally be out over the Pacific Ocean. Air Wing 9 aircraft and I suspect many of the Jet Powered aircraft will use Area  W-291 out over the ocean.

The Warbirds flying out of Brown field, Romona airport, others near by,  and as far away as The Van Nays airport May at times make singular passes up the Parade of Flight Route. These passes will not be announced, and will by your good fortune to catch in flight.

Many other things to do in San Diego.   I don't get down there much, so there is plenty to hold my attention.

Or the other *very likely* beach approach to 29. If I was available thursday I'd be there to grab the CoNA birds arriving.

Sure, but with with anything less than 500mm you'd be doing some serious cropping.  Plus, from Pt Loma, you'd only see aircraft landing on 36, sometimes they come in on 29.  The best place to watch helos take off/land is Harbor Island (free parking is limited).

Still, if you came in on Thurs or Fri and couldn't get on base, you could watch from Pt Loma, Harbor Island, Coronado beach and Ream and you'd see whatever is flying.

BTW, that C-2 is the ONLY picture I have of a fixed wing aircraft coming in to land on 18.  The C-2s do it every once in a while, and bigger stuff (C-17s, C-5s) do it every once in a GREAT while.  The big guys actually come in like they are headed to Lindbergh, but they stay up higher and make a left turn to 18 about halfway down the KSAN runway.  99.999% of the fixed wing aircraft I've seen land at NI come in on 29 or 36.


I'd put something up from Pt Loma, but I don't have anything, never had any jets come in while I was up there.
