Ditto, weather is wonderful. It always gives you different lighting ;D

But yes, not all the time.

I was on the hill this evening and missed an all metal 747 taking off.

I almost stopped by the hill today but stopped at In-n-Out for 10 mins.

I found out today that the "Hill" has a name. It is "Clutter's Bluff" named after Jim Clutter.

Once just an unmarked area on the corner of East Imperial Avenue and Sheldon Street, but with a great view of the planes, "Clutter's Bluff" was named several years ago after former El Segundo City Councilmember Jim Clutter.

Initially known as the Imperial Vista Outlook Project, the El Segundo City Council renamed the outlook area during an El Segundo City Council meeting in 2003. Clutter's Bluff is known by residents and visitors as having one of the best views for watching planes take off and land out of Los Angeles International Airport.

Clutter, who was the father of the "Unsafe Area for Jets" sign, was active in trying to mitigate sound issues and other problems El Segundo suffered due to LAX. Clutter had proposed the sign to alert the Federal Aviation Administration of the safety hazards regarding planes that would make turns over the city when taking off or landing.

Clutter worked for TWA for over 30 years as a ticket agent and after ''retiring'', he became a realtor in El Segundo and served as a City Councilmember in 1988 but died of cancer nine months before his term ended in 1992. He is survived by his daughter and his wife, who both still reside in El Segundo.
