A big sigh of relief, getting the bear and Fury back on the ground. It was a very bad week for racing.

Wow ,Chino 1983 Bring back the memories! I was there that weekend too! we are getting old

The world famous "Baby Gorrilla" N588 when owned by the late Lloyd Hamilton ,  was sold to Paul Morgan after Lloyd passed, rebuilt and flown by aerocrafters @ Santa Rosa and shipped to Enlgland in the late 90's  and nosed over on its back in 2001 or 02, on landing roll out and Paul was killed. The wreckage was recently sold to a new owner in Sweden who is restoring it back to to fly!

Wow, Keith, you have a wealth of knowledge on these old warbirds! I was just wondering about that one, as I hadn't seen it before.

some Sea Fury's from the 90's

Dick Bertea's freshly painted machine with the "bumble bee" spinner, i was so glad when Rhino bought it and painted it dark grey

Sander's family truckster N924G, aka "924" enroute to Madera Warbirds in 1995, this shot taken from the backseat of Dreadnought....what a ride!!!

N19SF belching her first puff of av-oil, Dennis forgot to pull the shop rags from the exhaust ports, i have this on video as well, later to be named "Argonaut"

NX20SF "Dreadnought" climbing out of Williams Gateway Airport following the completion of the 2nd Annual Phoenix 500 Air Races, i think watching Dreadnought flying on our wing was more exciting than riding in her.....well......almost <rocker> <rocker> <rocker> <rocker>

a couple more oldies for the cause.....

N46990 being restored at Chino (Sanders Aircraft) in 1977, looks like the two Sanders boys doing the paint stripping, this later became N924G

N232J seen here at Reno 1988, being flown by Robert Lampough, this was originally Frank Sanders' 232 which he performed his patented Smoke-Show with at Chino and all over the states, 232 was retired from racing in 2008 by Michael Brown known as September Fury, my only hope is that this airframe remains in air racing, as it was the very first Sea Fury i saw as a kid at Long Beach Airport in 1970 =)
