Just answering because yesterday was my first time in Palmdale and I thought it would be fun to guess...

The street is 50th Street West, and in the shot I am looking south. Was parked just south of 50th and Avenue M.  Just a guess,  but it looked to me like the flames were 2-3 miles off.

Here in this area of Southwestern Minnesota and Southeastern South Dakota has the opposite problem...
too much water and many recent flood victims did not have flood insurance. I'm sure the flood victims
would love to send the excess water to the fire victims in SO Cal.
