Police and Fire Helicopters

Coming back north from picking my niece up from LAX today (will post to the LAX thread in a few minutes), big fire broke out next to the Getty, backing up the 405, so while in such slow traffic, I grabbed the camera and started shooting. (My wife and niece weren't too certain of the wisdom of shooting while driving, but hey, California law only says I can't talk on a cell phone, right?? And it was only 5 mph!) Unfortunately, I had to shoot through a less-than-clean windshield, so apologies for the less than ideal photo quality. It was, as always, fascinating to watch the aerial ballet of the LA City Fire and LA County Fire choppers as they came in for their water drops.

I too drove and shoot (a camera, but some drivers wish it is something else) today Alan but coming from the north.   A friend of mine Ralph Duenas made it to the Jr High off Mulholland before police kicked him out.  This is where the helo were tanking and refueling.  He got some great shots in the 10 mins he was there.  Here are mine from the Southbound 405FWY.
