More on the gimballing...watch this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaXW5TaFwAE&fmt=22 by my friend Mike Massee. Towards the end of the flight, as it's descending, you can see how much the nozzle moves to keep things upright.

Looks like NTPS has replaced their wrecked Turbo Dak. This is the former ZS-MAP, which visited Oshkosh in 2008.

Forgot to post these last Tuesday...the Toyota TA-1 made a very rare appearance on the ramp. Currently powered by a Lyc.

Got to work earlier than necessary this morning, so grabbed the Nikon and a cup of coffee and watched the sun rise over ASERCA's "newest" DC-9.

NWA used to have 80 or so of those DC-9, put a ton of hours on them and flew them almost every where. Not suprised to see some of them sitting around waiting for the crusher.

This one, N615NW, actually is gonna live on. ASERCA bought a number of them, several of them have already flown to Venezuela, this one's due to leave for there Friday. On the other hand, the rest of ASERCA's, 5 I think, are gonna get parted out. They had originally planned on putting them back in service, but the politics down there have pretty much squashed that idea. Anyway, This morning was yet another great sunrise, so here are some more pics. The MD-80 is Alitalia I-DAWU, and it is getting parted out.

N615NW...the DC-9 that kicked our butts today. On the second take-off pic, note the thick stream of fuel venting from the right wing-tip. It turned around and came back b/c of a gear unsafe light. Swung the gear and no problem noted. Finally left after dusk.
