I was at CSULB this morning and saw two hornets flying into final for LGB. I could only tell they were legacy models. I was directly under them so i couldnt read the tail marking

Yup, I saw them too while fishing off of Long Beach. I also saw a Piaggio Avanti, a UH-60, HBPD's MD 520N, and Southwest Airline's Maryland One. A lot flying around Long Beach today.

while driving to school, i did see a UH-60 flying pretty low over the Seal Beach Naval Weapon Center or whatever its called.
