Lots of awesome stuff since I last revisited. Great shots guys!

Here is one from yesterday morning. It's rare that you can actually get several factors to work out for you all at once on fires, since it's unscripted and always changing. But I went first thing to the Range Fire yesterday morning south of Banning -- intending to use the golden early morning light to my advantage. Not only did it work well in that regard, but in addition to getting myself in the right place to literally be right at the drop, -- I actually was blessed with 3/4 front angle shots into the sun. A lot of times they'll maneuver the aircraft away from the sun for pilot visibility. Love it when a plan comes together! ;)

Friday I went up to San Bernardino Air Attack Base, photographing the big boys. I'm still working on the photos, but here's a taste...

First up, a few from Tanker 911. The photo where they're banking is due to the fact they had to do "S" turns to create separation betwenn themselves and another plane that had turned on final in front of them. Not close, but could have been on the runway...

I tried but it does not work when I do it through Firefox. I've checked it using Chrome and it works fine!

Van Nuys now has all the aircraft for the fire season. Two CL-415s along with an S-64 Skycrane arrived last week and have now been joined by a second S-64.

Not a standard orange Erickson.   Whats the story?

I believe they have two painted in this Blue/Red colour scheme although I do not know why. The other that arrived this week is in the standard Orange!

if that is "Sunbird" it was painted that way when it was owned or leased by SDG&E during the Powerlink construction. Also used for firefighting while it was here as a "goodwill" gesture by the company.
