The earh quake happned along the Northridge-Ingelwood fault which runs under Long Beach and south to San Diego and becomes the Rose Canyon fault in San Diego. Thats why the earthquake was felt in San Diego.

Since so deep it did not cause as much damage.  As for myself, I am in West LA.  Shook rattled and rolled for about 20+ seconds over here..
