Big Bear City Airport (L35) proudly presents Big Bear Air Fair 2011 - "Transportation Then to Now" to be held on August 6, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. That Saturday the skies will be filled with the sights and sounds of vintage Warbirds, Just in Time Skydivers, Mountain Fifes and Drum Corp., remote control demonstrations and much more. Now in our 14th year, the Big Bear Air Fair continues to be one of Big Bear's most exciting family entertainment events.

"Transportation Then to Now" brings with it more than a dozen of the aircraft which secured our Nation's independence in earlier years. Two World War II vintage B-25 Mitchell Bombers, a carrier capable F4U Corsair, the 420 MPH P-38 Lightning, the very recognizable P-51 Mustang long range fighter, a 1000+ horsepower P-40 Warhawk and a Douglas Dauntless Navy dive bomber arrive straight out of the 1940's to grace our airspace. These aircraft will be accompanied on the display ramp by a Vietnam era Douglas A-1 Skyraider and an assortment of T-34 propeller and T-38 jet training aircraft. Guests should find the 1930's designed twin engine C-45 Expeditor, also known as the Beechcraft Model 18, an exciting addition to the display.

Fly-Ins are welcomed and enthusiastically encouraged to participate in the spot landing competition upon arrival. Parking will be available on the ramp south of the runway and east of the terminal. Awards will be presented in a variety of categories for aircraft wishing to be reviewed by our panel of judges.

Gates open at 7:00 a.m.with a pancake breakfast prepared by Big Bear Kiwanis. This day promises to be filled with fun, food, fresh air and fantastic flying.

Fuel: Fuel will be available from the fuel trucks on a "first-come-first-serve" basis. Place your order with the fuel truck drivers who will be on the field; we will have one truck for 100LL and one for Jet A.

For aircraft within the showlines: There will be no engine running allowed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Contact a parking official in orange vest before departure.

For those interested in volunteering, becoming a food or concession vendor or if you'd like to display your airplane, please call Nancy at 909-585-3219.
