I need to make some ZIP files....doesnt XP have a function for that ?....if not what should i use. A free program id possible.

Right-click on a folder you want to .ZIP. A fly-out menu will appear. Choose "Send to" and another fly-out will appear. Choose "Compressed (zipped) folder".

You can do this with images as well.
