We need a WMOF thread.
Will post a few from this last Sat. (Last time I visited was in 2006 at Hawthorne)

Good idea Kevin, any shots of the PT-22 that was there for a few weeks?
1. T-28 that is temporarily there from Gillespie while P-51D Man O War is up north for some TLC.
2. Grumman F-14A.
3. F-86 55-3937 and the museum.
4. I took the little one down to the museum to give Mom some peace and quiet time to study. As I was shooting I looked over and noticed he was looking at the Trojan also.

He's cute. Reminds me of Glenn's little girl waving at the helos at KFUL. You set the bug in motion. Aviation bug.... <laughing>

Getting the little one to the Airport early I see ;D
And great shots ;)
OK, it's Trivia time. (No cheating.) Look what I found in a display case at the museum.
What is it?
Josh, this should be up your alley. A piece of modern aerospace history.
I tried to show the side that would be the most helpful for the trivia quiz ;)
For those who know, please hold back for the others.

The WMoF need to air up the nose strut on that Tomcat then make a simple nose strut to hold the strut in the up position.

Its been like that since they got it like 5-8 years ago.
Yeah only two more days and its raining today.

A source at Northrop Grumman told me that at least one of the wings of the YF-23 have been removed in preparation for the move to Torrance.
Sounds like it may happen very soon, especially since April is almost over.
I would presume it would be a middle of the night move like when they moved the others.

Cool ;D
What...to the little museum on the airfield?? That would be real cool!
Kevin is it gone now?
On way to work gym happened to have camera and got some pics. Heading down El Segundo and per tow guy down Hawthorne. Hard to shoot at this time of day.
Here they are. Had to shot at ISO 800 and don't think the TPD officers would have stopped for me to take a pic.... ;D

This plane should it been made for the Marines it is a great plane but because of red tape and politicians is going to a museum that is too bad
Gnarly shots Damon! Cant wait to see the YF-23 when it is on display at WMOF. <thumbup>
The YF-23 was actually the better plane in the ATF competition, but as we saw with the KC-30 debacle, the best plane doesn't always win.
And, the YF-23 actually used to be at the old WMoF in Hawthorne. It in a sense, returning.
On El Segundo Blvd at intersection by the Corp Big 5 Sporting Goods.

It's too bad the YF-23 did'nt win the ATF competition. Very nice plane. Though the F-22 sure is an awesome machine.
What frustrates me about the WMoF, is this is going to sit outside, rotting away and will likely never get restored anywhere close to what it once looked like. The YF-17 should be a better museum, fully restored, and INDOORS.

Agreed.
Looks like the other prototype is safely tucked under the nose of the surviving XB-70, indoors, at Wright-Patterson.

I'm starting to wonder if this is indeed PAV-2. The example in the AF museum says "Grey Ghost" on the nose gear door, and this one says "Spider"
PAV-1 was the "Black Widow" (http://www.flickr.com/photos/27044274@N06/3982740548/in/pool-43833607@N00/)
PAV-2 was the "Grey Ghost"
Is this really PAV-2?
I think there is an error being propagated out there on the web.
The darker P&W powered PAV-1 (800) was "Grey Ghost" and the lighter GE powered PAV-2 (801) was "Spider".
The contractor dubbed "Black Widow II" moniker was for the YF-23/F-23 in general, as was the contractor dubbed "Lightning II" for the YF-22/F-22.
Once they put the tails on, you will see it is PAV-2.

OK. Everything I've seen on the web has the two names reversed.
