B-17 tour stop "Aluminum Overcast" at Torrance Airport
April 10-12, 2009
Torrance, CA
Hosted by Torrance Air Fair Asso.
B-17 location on field – plane parked by Robison Helicopter
EAA is offering historic flight experiences in its beautifully restored B-17G Flying Fortress "Aluminum Overcast." One of only 14 Fortress's still flying, this aircraft is an icon of the Allied strategic bombing effort that helped turn the tide of battle in World War II. Unlike reading a history book, you can actually fly a mission back in time and feel the might of this magnificent machine, just as those brave young men did more than 60 years ago.

I will be there for this one ;)
Last years was great <thumbup>
Saw it fly over 20 times this weekend over the Valley......stopped and looked up every time.
How cool ....only a P-51B on one wing and a P-38F on the other would of made it better.
I am going to try and make this one too with my Dad. He enjoys seeing the warbirds and bombers.
Plan to try and make this myself.

Will be there either Fri. or Sat. ;D
Probably Sat for us.
At least both days for me, and maybe Friday :-\
She's here, flew in a few hours ago, just flew over again. I'm hearing they have two more flights left in the day. Gonna head down later, sometime after 4pm.

Media flights? I think the public flights start tomorrow. Which way are they departing?
You all have to go and see this historic aircraft. You don't have to buy a flight, but do make plans to see it. I hope you guys can get out on the ramp like I did at Gillespie Field.
It came in today already and at least made 2 flights. Not going to make it but Robert and Robert take a lot of shots. And Josh too.
Ya, baby <laughing> <rob> <cheers> <camera> <apsops>
Flights should start around 10am.
I hope it clears for you guys today. I'll be there tomorrow morning.
Weather not to bad :-\
Josh, great meeting up with you again ;D
Ok, time to post. Just a few for now ;D
Will be there again at 10AM tomorrow <rob> <apsops>

THE SEPIA LOOKS GOOD.. MAKES IT LOOK AS IF IT WAS BACK IN THE DAY
Here are a half dozen from today. ;)
Phantastic Photos !!!! Jim and Kevin <thumbup> <thumbup> There must have been quite a few that wanted a ride in the B-17. On the 7th when I photoghaphed the B-17 at Gillespie Field the maintnance crew had lots of time to do routine maintenance as there was no one on the 7th there waiting for a ride.
Thanks!
Four flights on Saturday but Sunday, they began with three scheduled and wound up with five. :o
Got some nice light on the nose art.
Here's a few of mine. Don't have time to go through all of them right now, will one of these days.
Awesome shots, Josh. ;) <thumbup>
Very nice Josh! <thumbsup>
Great shots everyone.
