Maybe the`ll put the photographers across the freeway this time.....bring your 600mm lenses.
Geeezzzz.....in 1993 i was virtually next to the helos as they taxied in. Each year got more silly.....
Good show for the public but the photograpers are treated like crap.....its easier to go where the helos live.
I just got a 2x extender, should be great with my 400mm, manual focus though ???

Im going to talk to Jim Paules about the photography thing.....they need to realize good pics from a good location only helps them....and the show.
Sweet. I have never been, but I hear anything can help. Not to many people happy with where they put the photogs :(
Sweet, thanks ;)
Nice! Thanks Skip. ;)
<rocker>
Anyone get their app in for this one?
I got something but have to send it here or get the word program Josh referred too. Not sure of Photographer App was in there or not.
I just faxed my a this morning and will check for confirmation later at home.
Has anyone made the suggestion for departures to move the flags from the middle (gate area) further to the left and the right to have a more un-obstructed view as they lift off? I know Ralph Duenas from FC talked about that and not sure if more if us make the suggestion if Jim would take it in consideration.
I faxed my app earlier today too. ;)
Sounds to me like this "Air Show" is "anti photographer". Can't you just be a general attendee, bring in your camera and shoot from anywhere, or will their Photographer Police pick you upand drop you in thr Photog Area?
I have only gone to that air show one time, which was last year. Last year that I attended was pretty cool, a 400mm would have helped so much though. ;) <apscs>

You can and arrive early to shoot the arrivals. That is what the photogs signing up are trying to do without shooting into the sun. If not in the photopen for the arrivals you are shooting into the morning sun. But yes otherwise as a general attendee its a show you can shoot good. Lots of fire/police/corner/CIS displays as well. Demos by LA County Sheriff rescue 3 and LAFD water drop.
FC show Chuck Aaron and Red Bull Helo but Reb Bull website show them on east coast.

yeah it is, its from year before they started the pit. Ralph Duenas and I walked (un detected) down the trail between the polo field and the lower baseball fields and the 412 was leaving the lower fields. We were later intercepted by the CAP Cadet SS patrol. ;D

I believe "Rescue 5" is actually a unit.
"N950DG" (Serial 149724) was the L.A. Sheriff's UH-3H helo that flew Jackson from ucla to USC. Most famous helo in the world for 15 minutes there.
Kevin
aero-engineer
Yeah rescue 5 is a unit.... they have 3 flyable SH-3H's and 2 that dont fly for parts. and they bought the junk helos for $1! Im kinda confuse right now, I thought that the N950SB Rescue 5 helo was the one that transported M.J. I might be wrong but I found this dumb video on youtube.... the pilot said it was that helicopter, he probably meant that "TYPE"
AH-1W Cobra
Cool shots, Damon. <apscs>
LoL good one... <laughing> ;)

Well, I can still charge $50 for each print since this is a pretty low quality image posted it will not look good as a print.... ::) <rocker> <nikon>
It's worth at least $50 (but we are all broke, dam camera equipment and computers), great shot 8) I'll get one of us next time and we can trade :P And I don't think the government can tax us for that ;D

Right now LASD has 3 flying H-3s ( thats what they call em , not SH-3Hs) and one parts aircraft.
