Hey I would like to know that as well... I was only looking at going to Yuma this year.. Kind of odd they would be on the same weekend anyways don't you think?
I really think midnight Mover is off his rocker... <nono> <nono> <nono>
I think the Wing Commander at Yuma figured that he was senior toany officer ay El Centro and he felt the power to be in D.C. would tell the Blue Angels to make their first air show at Yuma. But some one over ruled the guy at Yuma so the Blues will have their traditional first air show of the year at El Centro.
We Gents, I'll be at El Centro so I suppose I'll have he only pics from there. <tcat>
The El Centro Blue Angel Air show went of with out a hitch and I was very impressed with what I saw. The F-15 demo was superbly flown as was the C-17 and the F-18 Super Hornet and the Blues themselves were great. Some folks had felt that with MCAS Yuma having their air show on the same day that there would be no AV-8B demo at El Centro, well the Harriers made what was a glorified fly by, landed vertically, and taxied away. Even the NAF El Centro Change of Command was a blast to see, and the following retirement too was a hit.
A few display aircraft first, I'll be posting most of the day, keep checking for the pics. The static displays were shot between 7:30 am and 8:30am so they appear a bit dark. There are 2 pics of a C-17 starting engine #4, I was a bit surprised at the amount of white smoke that came out during the starting sequence.
My appologies to those with small moniters. I try to remember to step back from the picture subject as much as I can so I can make as small crops as I can, some times I start taking pics any way. I shot 376 photos at El Centro. I wont post that many but as many as I can.
Nice shots Rander, keep'em coming....
More static displays from the El Centro Air Show. The NAS Fallon SAR helo made It's last air show appearance as it will be retired in the next 2 weeks. It is the Navy's last SAR Huey.
The next few shots are of Mr. John A. Collver flying his AT-6 Texan. The aircraft is known as "WAR DOG''.

The USAF C-130 they would have avialble to them was part of C-130 gounding, so the Black Daggers had located Spanish built Casa 212 aircraft to use for their 2 jump from. On the second jump the one female member ripped her jumpsuit and came down showing a bit of leg.

Yes Glen, You missed a great air show.
here's a couple of Boss from practice day........... ;D
Here's one of Fat Albert coming right at us on practice day. Just before I shot this, the C-130 really looked as if it was BELOW my shooting point. I was using one of the hay bales, and started to think about going down a couple of steps when I saw the plane begin its run. This was my first time shooting the Blues at the hay bale spot. Also attached are a shot of one of the Stearmans and one of the Hellcat.
