This Amtrack California Commuter Train is stopped in it's tracks because of an engine fire. The Diesel engine was shut down. The train will have to be towed back to Los Angeles for repairs. All Passengers were ordered of the train and walked back to the Sorrento Valley Coaster Station to wait for the next train. The Coaster station is about 2 city blocks from where the train stopped.

In the 3rd pic, the 2 white pickup trucks are BNSF railroad personel to check for damage to the tracks or to the train.

Thanks! about ten feet from the track. I always give a wave to the engineer in such a situation and give them a wave of the camera before laying down for a low angle shot so they don't worry about my motives.  ;)

Great shots everybody! <thumbup>  I like the little change of pace here.  Jim, I'm digging the low angle on that Tehachapi shot...very well done ;)
These BNSF locomotives are typical fare for me, as the tracks are about 30 feet away from my backyard wall.  One of the very first shots from my 70-200 lens and I highly credit it to the contraction of my L-disease  <laughing>

Took advantage of some Cajon Pass snow to head out and grab some train shots. (Always have loved trains, but never shot them). Had a fun train come through, points to whoever can guess what it was. ;)

Yep, I thought it was pretty sweet. The train was southbound though, we had a local tell us they were brand new off the assembly line headed to be shipped overseas (can't confirm). Here's a detail shot of the Strykers... Pair of Mobile Gun System Strykers, a Mortar Vehicle and Medic Vehicle Stryker:
