Caught this on Friday 8-1 at North Island main gate.  Ceremony is going to be next Friday 8-8.

Here is another pic of the A-4 that will be dedicated to the memory of Admiral James B. Stockdale. THe Maain Gate will be closed until 2 pm 08/09/08 for a ceremony. There will be about 1500 guests there for the dedication. ANy one planning to attend the dedication should wear appropriate attire Suit and tie for gentlemen dress and conservitave jewelery for the ladies and dress uniform for military personnel

Hey Damon,, the A-4 at North Island is awesome, see it everytime I go down there. I was told the guys down there 2 weeks ago that they may be putting a Seahawk at the gate on the other side. HSL-49 Scorpions is retiring one in Oct-the one I just painted in Oct 08,,it may go to the gate....will let you know...

This  A-7D is a Gate Guard at Martin Field Airport at Dakota City Nebraska.

That Tomcat gate guard at Point Mugu has always bugged the heck out of me. I was running the Point Mugu Missile Museum when they were prepping BH-224 for the stick, and they never asked me for Sidewinder 'shapes'. I had TONS of them! Instead, they let a civilian over at AIMD make a couple 'pod-winders' with two TACTS pods and a couple welded fins. One of the fins has already fallen off.

Seems to me that a guate guard Tomcat, in front of the Navy's premiere sea test range facility (where she was developed!), should be wearing correct weapons. Maybe that's just me.
