I wasn't aware you could get this close to the launches.
I don't know which pad they use for the Atlas, but Space X launches from SLC-4 and there are off base places where you can watch that are approx 4nm from the pad. I was up there for the launch of Jason 3 last month, and there were a few hundred cars lined up on the sides of the road. Unfortunately, there was a heavy marine layer and we couldn't see anything, but we could easily hear the rocket and feel the shock wave from the exhaust.
