Title: Any Nikonians use a wide angle lens?
Post by: aero-engineer on December 20, 2011, 07:12:09 PM
The widest thing I have is a 18mm.

I'm curious what Nikon mount wide angles you have and how you like them?

Thanks.

I like my 17-55 f/2.8.  hey, its 1mm wider.  I've heard wonderful things about the 14-24.  What kind of price are you looking at?

I had a Tokina 12-24 f/4.   The 12-24 worked great, loved it on cars and tight spaces, and you could get REAL close to any aircraft and get the entire beast, no matter how large, into the frame.  Samples here:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/18842924@N03/tags/atx124afprodx/

I ended up switching to a Tokina 11-16, not because I really needed the extra 1mm, but I wanted a lens that could go to f/2.8.

Although I love Nikkor glass, I know a 17-55 would not be wide enough for me, there have been plnety of times when statics are crowded together that I've needed the 11 or 12 mm that the Tokinas give me.  YMMV.
