WOW.
I wonder if the CWG-2 will be aboard the Lincoln, or will fly off.

I heard that CVW-2 will not be on the deck. Just a few aircraft only.
Looking forward to it. Should be really cool to see Honest Abe. I rememeber when CVN-72 had an open house in the early 90's at the now defunct Long Beach Naval Shipyard.
Would like to see the Carrier.
I saw the USS New Jersey and USS Might Mo back in the day at Long Beach Naval Shipyard
I am going on Thursday 10am ;D
There are 4 aircraft on the flight deck of the Abraham Lincoln. VFA-2 CAG, VFA-151, HSM-77 CAG, VAW-116 CAG.
Cool, looking fwd to Thursday. Would love to get a late day shot, might try tomorrow if I can.
If anyone goes on Wednesday, let us know how it is and how early we should get there.
The U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln CVN-72 at the Port of Los Angeles docked at Cabrilllo Beach. Aircraft onboard are 1. F/A-18F Super Hornet of VFA-2 Bounty Hunters (CAG). 1. F/A-18C Hornet of VFA-151 Vigilantes (low-viz.). 1. E-2D Hawkeye of VAW-116 Sun Kings (CAG). 1. MH-60R Seahawk of HSM-77 Sabrehawks (CAG). I am going on Sunday.

Thanks, wish I had had tripod and not top of trash can on the sand. I heard GO EARLY!!! I am going to scout spots after tour tomorrow as well.
Robert, we need a report on how it went to day....
Can't really say its worth the wait. Spent about 3 hours in line and the only thing you get ts o see is the hangar bay and the flight deck. I spent about 30 mins on the ship. What did suck though is that I saw 4 busloads of people (who have been waiting for hours) get driven over to the carrier then told they weren't letting people in anymore. I felt the event organizers totally failed at communication

Is the hanger deck full or empty?
What part of the hanger deck did you see?
I assume you reached the hanger deck via ladders and not on the elevator like the Stennis did in Feb at CONA kickoff.
Thanks.

VFA-2 color bird? Wow. Been wanting a shot of the Bullet boss for a long time. If it wasn't such a fiasco to get out there I'd go.
Hopefully CVN-72's PAO is a lot more personable than 74's. I was a little bit surprised by her demeanor on press day at NASNI CoNA. I thought the objective of a PAO was to make the press say good things about the Navy...

Inside the harbor going to the carrier we got a lot of spray from going into the wind. Hard to keep dry. On way back or pointed to the east was nice and no spray. More to come!!

Hey Damon,
Is that the Navy's version of a Zamboni? ;D
Dan
<canon>
I have heard from a friend of mine that Los Angeles Navy Week had a total of 43,000 people toured the event. Also the Navy is planning on returning to the Port of Los Angeles in 2013 for another week long event. Possibly with an amphibious assault ship.
