Title: Flight Sim Photos
Post by: Josh on February 13, 2008, 06:13:43 PM
Here's some FS photos. 2000, 2002, 2004 or FSX. Most are repaints I've done.

This first set is of my P-51 repaint.

Very cool, haven't used any sim's in a long time. I need to get FSX and the new add-on. I need to build a new computer, this one is getting a little outdated and I don't think FSX would run very well  <bleep>

Note, been using MS flight simulator since version 2 for the Commodore 64. About 8 months ago we fired it up on a C128 and it took 4.5min to load. We have come a long way <rob>

I built mine specifically to run FSX, got it done two days before I got it, and it still ran bad. My MoBo and CPU got fried, along with the PSU. So I'm stuck with my lapscop. I'm now waiting for a good Asus AM2+ mobo so I can get the AMD Phenom 64 X4. Only issue is I don't know when a lot of these games will start supporting quad cores, but I'll be prepared ;D. I also want to get my video cards updated to crossfire, and install a water cooling system. I have a feeling that it still wont run well on XP, and theres no way I'm going Vista for a while.

 :P

It's a lot of fun flying multiplayer online. My friend Nick, his brother and I flew quite a bit today. We load, head out to the fire, drop our phoschek, return and reload. We actually had 2 other people with us at one point, two P-3s and three Cal Fire S-2s. It was a lot of fun.

Wow, those are great! Any interest in giving us a new P-3 repaint? All it would be is changing the existing numbers to a different one. Like taking the Tanker 20 texture and changing the nose and tail numbers to 27 and the N920AU to N927AU, Tanker 00 as N900AU, etc etc.

If you wanted to, let me know! That would be killer. You should come fly with us too.  8)

I don't have my simming equipment anymore. But if you send me the textures, I'll have a look. Have you ever thought about making a fire service VA?
Title: Re: Flight Sim Photos
Post by: kick Z tail out on September 14, 2009, 02:20:16 PM
I had thought of it in the past, even before we had this awesome FS KBT tanker. Now it's even more enticing. Especially if we can draw some people to fly with us that know what the air tanker thing is all about and have an idea how they are used. For example, the way tankers begin by making a pass before descending into the drop, etc. And another example, all the guys that frequent Fox would know how they takeoff, how they land, how the aircraft taxi to and from the retardant loading pits, yada yada.

I zipped up the textures and I'll try to email them to you or somethin'. That is unless my gmail throws a fit about it. Thanks for taking a look at them. :)

Pretty fast, I actually asked around before buying my current computer last february... specifically wanting a system that would run FSX well.

ASUS Intel X58 motherboard, Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz processor, 12gb RAM and two 1gb ATI Radeon HD-5750 video cards running in Crossfire mode.

Thanks Josh... so far I'm experiencing absolutely no hit to frames. My target is set to 30 and it hasn't moved.  8) Luckily the scenery program I has offers large crowd groups all as one, so I used about 8 so far. They're all super low poly so no hit yet. Even the static planes are pretty easy on it.

Haha Damon, yeah I wish I could have kept that kid out of there. He came with one of the groups I wanted to use.  <laughing>
