So I guess you might have to register to get close?

There were also be other aircraft on display as well.  I know we all see them but the USCG MH-65C is scheduled to attend as well.

From The Daily Breeze, By Kristopher Hanson, Staff Writer

Aviation Summit lands this week

Aviation enthusiasts and pilots from across the world are descending into Long Beach this week for one of the nation's largest general aviation summits. An estimated 13,000 pilots and aviation enthusiasts are expected to attend the 2010 Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Aviation Summit, which includes public events at Long Beach Airport and downtown.

The summit will be a public display of more than 75 aircraft at Long Beach Airport from Thursday through Saturday, a fundraising barbecue and an aircraft auction to raise funds for flight-school scholarships.

City boosters report more than 6,000 hotel room bookings and a total estimated economic impact of $10 million from the three-day event, which draws pilots, families and fans from as far as South America. "This is a great event to have back here in Long Beach because it brings people in from across the country, gives us a chance to showcase the city and it's always a relief to have nice weather for airplane displays and for flying," said Bob Maguglin, spokesman for the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau. "It's like part vacation, part convention, plus the public's going to have a great time looking at all those old planes up close out at Long Beach Airport."

The organization, more commonly known as AOPA, boasts some 400,000 members internationally, from both commercial and general aviation. The organization's membership, which includes several members of Congress, is actively involved in legal, educational, safety and legislative programs, including issues related to the use of airspace above the Los Angeles Basin. Several thousand AOPA members are expected to fly into Long Beach Airport early this week in aircraft as diverse as World War II-era bombers to multimillion glass-cockpit jets.

A B-29 Superfortress, which was one of the largest military aircraft ever assembled and the airplane that was used to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, will be on display. The B-29, known as "Fifi," is considered one of the last such planes to be in mint or near-mint condition.

It's the organization's second annual summit in Long Beach, following a stop here in 2004, before the public aircraft events were included in the expo.

The free three-day event at the airport will feature more than 70 aircraft on display - not to mention the hundreds of aircraft expected to fly in. Plus, attendees can enjoy performances by Flying Musicians Association artists each day, attend a presentation by aviation humorist Rod Machado, and stop by an autograph session with air show performer Sean D. Tucker.

Airportfest is open free to the public Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Complimentary transportation will be provided from the Long Beach Convention Center to Daugherty Field.

Thanks.  To tell the truth, I have no idea where the Boeing building is, that last one came from the AAA parking lot.  I'd never been to Long Beach before, and I was driving all over trying to find places to shoot from, just like you.  Believe me, I would rather have been on the west side, but I couldn't figure out where to go/park.  I would've LOVED to have gotten a shot of the Qatari C-17, along with some of Fifi with the sun behind her.
