A big sigh of relief, getting the bear and Fury back on the ground. It was a very bad week for racing.

The world famous "Baby Gorrilla" N588 when owned by the late Lloyd Hamilton , was sold to Paul Morgan after Lloyd passed, rebuilt and flown by aerocrafters @ Santa Rosa and shipped to Enlgland in the late 90's and nosed over on its back in 2001 or 02, on landing roll out and Paul was killed. The wreckage was recently sold to a new owner in Sweden who is restoring it back to to fly!
Wow, Keith, you have a wealth of knowledge on these old warbirds! I was just wondering about that one, as I hadn't seen it before.

N232J seen here at Reno 1988, being flown by Robert Lampough, this was originally Frank Sanders' 232 which he performed his patented Smoke-Show with at Chino and all over the states, 232 was retired from racing in 2008 by Michael Brown known as September Fury, my only hope is that this airframe remains in air racing, as it was the very first Sea Fury i saw as a kid at Long Beach Airport in 1970 =)

That bird, WJ288 , Was based @ Duxford, England from the late 70's till late 80's as G-SALY owned by Patrick Luscombe who sold it to (late) Doug Arnold, Biggin Hill Warbirds 88-1990 after a brief period @ Biggin Hill it was sold and shipped to the USA for Ed Stanley, registered as N15S ,a slow restoration process was started @ Pacific Fighters @ Chino in 1991. 1992 Ed was killed while flying his Pitts Special in Oregon, 1993 his Estate sold it to David Peeler of Memphis ,Tennessee where he finished restoration /between North Dakota & Memphis and flew it for a while ,until being donated to the CAF in 2006 in which Dave Peeler sponsors and again flies the plane! :)

I also remember seeing Ellsworth Getchell fly his Hawker Seas Fury at the Hawthorne and Torrance Air Fairs years ago. Nowadays, he only does shows in NoCal. The Sanders brothers often fly the Sea Fury at the Chino Airshow which is very cool and does aerobatics ::)
Dreadnought rounding pylon 8 on NCAR Reno Gold Unlimited Final race! Placing 3rd due to Precious Metal's DQ! ;)
