Just saw two CH-53s, with two seakings in trail when we were at TGI Friday's. Even watched a Cessna do like a 50deg bank and hall ass out of the way 30 secs before. Looked like they were coming from Los Alamitos or TOA. But I can't find any Presidential TFRs for Cali. No camera, like usual. <bleep>
now I always have my camera in my car all the time lol. ;D
;)
;)
Ahha good work. :)
These were taken at LAX, there were heading south. >:D
Thanks! Keith's T-6 buddie said they landed at TOA for a shot bit I guess.

QuotePres Bush will be at Robinson Heli at the Torrance Airport tomorrow.
Based on the NOTAM timing, he is commuting via Helo.
The tight NOTAMS are for:
LAX:
10:30 a.m. until 11:25 a.m. local Wednesday, January 30
3:00 p.m. until 4:05 p.m. local Wednesday, January 30
Torrance:
10:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. local Wednesday, January 30
Westside Towers Heliport (West L.A.)
12:40 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. local Wednesday, January 30
[/logged]
That narrows the time down a bit. :)
Anyone going? Guess I won't get a shot unless he takes off early. Guess he would fly back to Santa Monica right?
Did not realize the Westside Towers Heliport is a building.
Santa Monica Airport!? Oh man if he does come here I will be there. and btw I was at the UCLA Campus today and saw 2 helicopters "Marine 1" type fly over and real low.
[logged]I contacted Gene (she wrote the article at the DB) to see if she had a better time line and said
QuoteThe information I was given was pretty vague, too. I think the White House does not want to disclose specific times for security reasons.
So I don't think we will get any better ideas.[/logged]
[logged]If anyone is planning to go tomorrow, I'd like to hitch a ride with you. I'm suspecting that the airport is going to be shut down in every way, they will probably have all the airport entrances blocked, including the parking lots at the ends of the runways, so I don't really know where the best spot would be. I have an airport card to get onto the property, but I doubt that will do any good.[/logged]

Guess they were making a dry run to that location as well. See the time line Josh posted...last stop of you look up on airport-data is a heliport on a building on Wilshire. I got my camera JIC, on my way home.
They are at TOA now. Just went over 3 mins ago.

Anyone getting photos of Air Force One at LAX?
2 large helos just went over RB to LAX, hope you guys are getting good photos ;)
Got some junky scanner audio of what sounds like the 53s. Not very good tho. May need to turn up volume.
Sounds like he says... ...CH?MH?VH?-53s over the top ... for 4000?
And yeah I got some shots, nuthin great, but I got them. Gotta look at them, will post after.
I counted a total of 1 CHP chopper (not in the convoy), two VH-3s and 3 VH-53s.
The photos.
Got some pictures today from Lowes and will post tonight. Does anyone know when AF1 or the C17's will leave LAX?

Any SS at lowes?
Didn't notice any SS, but I'm sure they were near. OK, here is what I got today from the Lowe's parking lot:
couple more
Very Very nice, you totally scored. How long did you wait there?
The first helo was on approach as I entered the parking lot, so, no wait at all. I heard at 10:30 the pres was suppose to be at Robinson at 11, so I high tailed it back to TOA from Culver City.
A couple more of Bush
Last two.

VERY NICE John shots!!!! Those helicopters flew right over my house and woke me up. <bleep> But... I did enjoy waking up seeing those Sikorsky helicopters fly over my house. <heliguy>
Great shots. One has some issues and did not leave til last night to the sould. They may have staged the Helos out of Los Alamitos. Bush left for Vegas yesterday.
Left before 8pm I think
Cool, did you have a chance to talk to the pilots?

I did not want to bother them. They were trying to fix it and get out of there.
Very AMAZING photos you took Damon! <apscs>
Apparently Bush did NOT fly into TOA on Wed.
Bush's helo landed at Greenwood Park (enroute to TOA), Bush exited the helo, the helo then joined the others and continued to TOA. Bush spoke briefly at Greenwood School and continued to TOA via the motorcade down Crenshaw Bl.. It just so happens, Greenwood Park is only one block from my house, damn!

Not the greenwood park in Torrance... Next to Fern El. school...?
The very same. My friends daughter goes to Greenwood School and saw the whole thing. I can't imagine that helo landing there in the field.

Hand held Tokina 400mm telezoom. (No VR/IS - needed some postproccessing and resizing to fit on here)
