My first post! Yay. :D
Anyone know if or when the Dreamliner will be at Southern California Logistics Airport in Victorville, CA? I used to live right by there, but still get into the area a lot even though I moved out of town a couple years ago. I first heard it was coming a month ago. Has anyone seen it there yet?
Thanks!
I have not heard anything. Hoping to maybe see if when I go to Seattle next month. Maybe??

I heard there was gonna be like half a dozen Dreamliners with different interiors and such being tested, but where and when are what I wanna know.
Here's a link to an article on a Victorville news website:

I've heard rumors that 787 #5 is supposed to come to Long Beach to do test flights on the offshore range. Believe it when I see it, but who knows.

Hmm.. that will be interesting. I will certainly be watching the skies over my house for the next few weeks and see what I see.
I really want to see this one..
Hope to maybe catch one in Seattle

i've never been to Washington. The furthest north I've ever been is Sacramento, CA. I can't see it until it makes its way into Cali.
With all the delays and all the money waste on getting foreign companys to build parts of it. they could have built all those parts themselves and most likely been done with the flight testing and we could have been photographing them in passenger service flying out of LAX by now.

I think so too.. That was sure a mistake on their part.
I hear at 11am and all day tomorrow, touch and go's. Ken heard about it.....
Just filed the flight plan...

Also once the 3rd 747-8F gets up and flying they're planning on moving the 747-8 testing to Palmdale. They say they don't have the room to test both the 787 and 747-8 at Boeing Field. So all 3 747-8F test frames will be flying out of Boeing's Palmdale facilities for the majority of the their testing.

Thanks Mickey for posting the info and Ken for the text.
Flight BOE2 787 KBFI-KVCV, arrival 12:08pm.
So who's going beside Ken maybe?
I can't wait to see it! It's gonna be quite a while til I can get down there, but when I do, I'll try to get some photos. I drive by Palmdale a lot though, so I can for sure see the 747. Thanks everyone for posting that info!
This is Ken's Cell shot. First photo from VCV.
From what Ken said, it doesn't seem like they are leaving anytime soon.
here is the news release on Boeing's website.

Says they will be there for 3 weeks doing ground effect testing. Basically flying the 787 really close to the ground...now that would be something cool to see!
That's awesome. I'm sure Jim, Brian and Michael will be up there shooting the heck out of it, since it's their regular neck of the woods.
Too bad it's not in house colors though.
This is better:

Very cool......nice looking plane.
Great catch, Ken! ;)

Didn't know about it till Keith mentioned it today. Looks like I'll have to see what I can get.
Great shots Ken! <thumbup>
Good Job, Ken, First shot of a 787 on APSoCal!!!! <thumbup> <cheers> <rob>
That's a GREAT shot Ken! Looks like enduring the cold was worth it...

Beautiful shots!! I so wish I could see it. My stupid job is keeping me home. I probably wont be down that way for another month. I hate my stupid job. I'm totally willing to make a special 2 hour trip down there, but my husband wont hear of it. He's paranoid of letting me go anywhere out of town on my own. :( Where is the best place to park and stand? I know of a couple spots, but I'm just wondering if there are better ones. There's a dirt road around the outside perimeter of the airport and a good spot to catch landings from the 395. Any photogs who go there may need a four wheel drive to not get stuck on that dirt road with the rain storms and everything. I hope I can at least get some shots of the new 747 at Palmdale. What's the eta of the 747?
At the Southwest corner of the airport, there is a huge new Dr. Pepper/Snapple facility, and around it, they've graded the pads and roads for a huge business park. Great spot to catch anything leaving R17. Not sure if you're going to get chased out of there, but there is one pad that's built very high up and you can clear the fence without a ladder.

Those sound like good spots. I'll check those out when I go there next. If I get chased, I'll find another spot. Where were those photos shot from?
Anyone know if the 787 in Victorville will be flying tomorrow 3/10? I may be able to get out there for that.

Or if they will fly on weekends? No way I can make it out there on a weekday before it gets dark.

The parking lot on the side of the SCLA office. Go into the airport on Phantom West, and make a left on Cargo lane until you get to the fence. The people at the office seemed pretty nice, I would say hello and let them know what you're doing. You're either going to need a ladder to clear the fence, or wait for a vehicle to go through the gate and shoot while it's open. We tried, even with my press credentials, couldn't get onto the tarmac.

I'll check that area out when I can get down there as well. My car is tall. It's a 1999 Ford Explorer. I can just climb on top of that. Is the fence too tall for that to work?

Should work. Definitely worth taking a ride around the airport and checking out everything that's parked out there. I wish the Nordic Leisure DC-9 was in a better spot to get a shot of.

I'll be sure to swing over to the airport next time I'm in the area. I just wonder if security will yell at me. :P
No one yelled at us.

That's good to know. I've been there before, but only driving by it. Thanks for the advice!
