sooo whos goin ;)
Bummer, didn't get the invite :-\ :-\ :-\ Would have loved to go to this one too.
I just got the invite! ;D
I imagine that it will be worth staying down there and hanging out at the fence line on Friday/Saturday. Anyone else up for that?
I didn't get the green light either. Bummer.
I got in, but I may end up staying the day before or after to hang the fence.

Cheers <cheers> to the Apsocalers that got in <rocker>
I didn't get in either...oh well >:(
Anyone know if the new system is "skewed" so to speak to those that have not gone before? Meaning if you got to go last time your name got thrown into the hat only once, compared with 2 for everyone else. I'm not complaining, honestly i think that may be a fairer way of doing things actually. Just very odd that no one (that i know of) that went last time is going this time (i.e Me, Nate, Keith, Jim to name a few).

Not sure how exactly they are going it. I am not sure who "the person" is that is pulling the names. Its kind of nice that some new people experience it, but still if you got your name in first or it was pull first its its you that should go. But I am not in charge of that and this is only. If it was us, I think it would be most active maybe. Like maybe 100 post or more. Just to tried to weed out those that sign up only for photocalls and don't contribute to the site either opinions or photos....I know the AZ guys had that issue....
Any plans for APSOCAL to get one organized? That AZ group really inspired me that such a thing can happen. :)

Was thinking the same thing. If AZ can do it, we can right?
You know i will see where this goes but, I have no problems heading this up on APsocal's behalf. Josh or Damon you have any thoughts?

I guess the process to choose people is a little "fishy"
as for APSOCAL photomeet. I say we try somewhere small first, like Los Alamitos ( i have a weird infatuation for California ANG and NG units)

I say somewhere badass, like El Centro. :P
Or NASNI....
I say Pt. Mugu because I live down the street, ;D but we'd all be bored to death, there is hardly any flight activity.

I'd love Pt Mugu... We could make sure it was on a day when there was air ops. :D
Maybe March ARB?
This thread should probably busted out.
Kevin
aero-engineer
March ARB would be okay... but only if we were content with watching a KC-135 in the pattern for 30 minutes. ;)
Air Force is so anal I know they'd never let us stand next to the runway, that's for sure. :-\
well, FC does have it's name and amount of members. i'd guess the contact they have is good too.
couple years ago, i called their (EC) PAO, i missed the FC photocall, but it wouln'd be a problem to sit next to the runway with guide, to take the same shots as they did. only thing was, no movements that day....
i'd say, try it with, say 8 to 10 ppl. it worked for the FC 2007 yuma photocall. just call, let them speak (i.e "well, we don't do single ppl tours, but we are prepared to guide more then 8 ppl") and then, try to mold it into a photocall of APSOCAL...
my $0.02

Why don`t i hear anything about Lemoore ever......its not a bad drive. But i know nothing about it.....do they have helicopters ? I know the SAR unit is gone.
I think i have the PAO number at El Centro for whoever wants to try......

Lemoore would be excellent... VFA-122 Supers and VFA-125 Legacy... Not to mention several squadrons based there. It's the West Coast counterpart of NAS Oceana.
I'd love Lemoore, and FC did that one in the past. I would totally drive up there for that, and I'm willing to take people along in my vehicle if anything like that ever happened.
I have the NAFEC PAO's card as well.
Something that appears to be rarely done is NAS Fallon...A heck of a hall up there but I got to go on a photocall in 2008 and it was awesome...
Phil
i keep hearing Brits and dutch "spotters" (don't know about photostuff) getting more and more onto Lemoore....
i'd make a poll; Lemoore or centro. first make a call IF photocall is possible even and then for the numer of ppl...
i can try, but doesn't that seem odd... a dutch guy trying to get apsocallers to go on a photcall.... ::)
Robert
I'm sure we'd all love to go wherever Josh and Damon organized to go. If it was Lemoore, El Centro, Pt Mugu, North Island, heck... even March or Los Alamitos... I'd love to go to any of them. Lemoore and El Centro are places we know we'd have stacks of aircraft in the pattern however, and that is the best deal. March, I could see us standing around for 30 minutes at a time waiting for something to happen.
Like you said, maybe a poll. 1st place would be the first attempt, if that place doesn't work out, then we'd try the second. Or, whatever our APSOCAL honchos are able to negotiate for! Either way, I'm sure with a little discussion someone will come up with a fun Photocall.
Have Josh or Damon chimed in on this one yet? ???
About the FC photocall, anyone passing through Anaheim wanna caravan?

What is this incident we keep hearing about?????????
Excellent Gladiator shot. 8) So I take it you guys got to go to the west LSO shack, or was this outside the fence?
Yeah i keep check all sites and here nothing. Also strange that Commander was the first to post on fencecheck hours after the event. Usually somebody always post a few hours after.

Yeah exactly... kind of weird.
Just got back home. Hope everybody makes it safely. <thumbup>
Looks like #6 whanged its rear end on take off and was not replaced by the spare aircraft after its safe return. This may or may not be the "incident" in question. The transistion to the five ship worked very well for the five and modified five-ship formations. Got a couple of pics after the return and can post tomorrow after work, but bet that others will post them up before then upon their return.

Folks were saying #6 hit his tail on takeoff, but I believe that to be wrong (reviewing my images I see no way that happened). Over the radio he called out a problem with the HPC (aka high-pressure compressor) in the engine.
I had a great day and will post some pics later.

Great shots Ken!
Here is #6 back on the ramp. This only shows the aftermath and not the circumstances or the conditions which may have led up to what might be mud visible on the bottom of the starboard tail cone as well as possibly a little on the port tail cone.
Ken...Those shots are awsome <thumbsup> <thumbsup>

Just making reference to the fact that no one had posted anything anywhere after the photocall . Usually someone post fairly quick after the event. I wonder if the HPC problem was due to smacking the tail? Seemed like a lot of people under the plane for a compressor failure. And, Michelle called the AzAP guy and asked for any and all pictures of the "incident" but couldn't say what happened.
Here're some... :)
Sure does look like mud or damage to exhaust and tailhook.

Unless they come out and say exactly what happened, it's all a big guess. Maybe the HFC failure caused it to hit the runway or vice versa.
