before the new year, I went over to Gillespie t try and shoot some of the contract fire helos. Due to their location I wasn't able to, but did get some other aircraft while trying,

Cessna 510

Congrats to Matt Guthmiller for becoming the youngest person to ever solo around the world in a plane (19 years old).

Here he is on short final into Gillespie Field after a 15 hour flight from Kona, Hawaii in a single engine Beachcraft Bonanza. Taken from my backyard

yeah, sorry for the delay. Thought I had lost them. Somehow when I loaded them onto the computer, I put them in a folder, which was somehow put in a 2nd folder, then a 3rd folder How the heck did I do that?.

AHHHHH, you got them!!  I saw that too during the fires we had a while back.  I remember driving home during the last hazy minutes of sunlight and seeing 4 heavy lift helicopters all lined up on 27L.  I thought to myself now that is a picture!!!!  I was going to run home and grab the camera and see if i could get a good shot of the 4 in a line, but...Dad duties were being called into play and i didn't get the chance.  Freaking kids always getting in the way!!!

back in May during the fires in San Diego County, some of the private helos being used overnighted there. I was able to get some photos early in the morning...

Siller S-61

Siller SkyCrane

Company I've never heard of. Heli Flite, using s Sikorsky S-58DT like Summit's. If fact, when I first saw it I thought it was Summit's.

and a private Bell 407 taking off from in front of the terminal

Wife just called me to let me know that 3 Ospreys just flew into Gillespie.  Said they shook the entire house.  No idea what they are doing there.

Here are some from the recent Wings of Freedom tour.  The flag shots are actually from my front yard, and the sweet P-51 shot was taken by the wife.

Recently bought my first house in El Cajon, just east of Gillespie.  I'm right under the arrivals for the 24L and 24R.  I've gotten used to the noise, but one of the positives is that every so often we get some cool traffic flying in, Like this A-1 Skyraider.
