In life, I have several passions, with aviation being one of them. One of my others is planetary exploration. I just finished reading Andrew Chaikin's book A Passion for Mars, and it occurred to me that back in 2003, when Mars was closest to earth, I had managed to actually photograph it with my Nikon 5700, without a telescope, and with a U-2 in the image, as the plane was turning base for a landing at Palmdale. I went and dug out the pic which, since this forum didn't exist at the time, I had no way of sharing with like-minded folks at the time. So, in case there's anyone else in the house who loves space stuff in addition to aviation, here's the pic.

Hmm...must have been flying when I wasn't looking. I live under downwind (in fact, as I write this a C-17 is overhead), so I'll start watching more carefully.

WOW, You really don't. Love them. Looks like a TR-1B, now called TU-2S.

Been looking for a record of her, cant find one. There's only two 1Bs known, and that's not one of them.
