I was thinking they could but if its not thick enough then.  I also heard from the guy in the office at the adm building at TOA, that it is an emergency divert strip for LAX and if a 747 had to land it could.  They would just have to truck it out.  Sorry to get off topic.

Must be one hellov a ride.

My pops told me that they could land and depart KTOA fully loaded, in fact they wanted too for a demonstration, but the runway wouldn't be strong enough and may have caused damage.
