Ran into these guys at the dock on the way out. They told us that they head 30 miles off of San Diego and shoot at barrels for target practice. Sweet gig!

Heading out of Huntington Harbor yesterday morning to do a little fishing I spotted a couple of CH-53s heading straight for our boat. No big deal but there seemed to be some sort of chase bird following them. We cut the motor and waited for them to pass so I could get a shot but they ended up going right overhead  :-\. I only had my 24-105 for fish shots so I could get anything close but it was still cool to watch. The bell had a film pod attached. A movie, recruiting film..? Later in the day I saw them heading back minus the film bird.
