WHAT: Open to the public, Planes of Fame Air Museum (Chino, CA) presents its monthly Living History Event. The topic for the April 4 event is 'Doolittle Raid', featuring the North American B-25 Mitchell. T. Martin Bennett and Kevin Thompson will be our speakers, followed by a question & answer period and flight demonstration when possible. The B-25 will be on display and perform a flight demonstration when possible. At 12:00 noon, the Membership Sponsored raffle flight will occur. Become a member to enter the raffle. All members are eligible to enter the raffle, but you must be present to win.
WHO: T. Martin Bennett - Mr. Bennett's father was a commercial pilot and former fighter pilot and his family moved to southern California when he was thirteen. In college he was a music major, then a religious studies major, then dropped out of college, was VP of a very successful nonprofit organization with Keith Green (a best-selling recording artist), trained inmates in a federal prison for seven years, and cofounded Premier Pet Products, a company that had over 100 employees and went on to win a Presidential award of Entrepreneur of the Year from the Small Business Administration.
Starting in 2001, he spent several years writing his first screenplay on the life of a man who could have or should have died over twenty-five times, was a slave-trader and became a slave himself, and, ultimately wrote the most recorded song in history, "Amazing Grace." Mr. Bennett is fully committed to the fulfillment of this epic screenplay under the working title, Out of the Depths.
Next, he spent several years researching and writing the screenplay for Wounded Tiger. He received a significant offer from a studio, but declined it as he didn't trust them to protect the integrity of the story, so he was left to raise funds independently. In the meantime, he decided to novelize the screenplay and chose the format of a nonfiction novel as nothing else seemed to fit. The book was released in the spring of 2014 to very positive reviews and is endorsed by Ravi Zacharias among others. Film funding and the film are in serous development.
Kevin Thompson (POF Moderator and Aviation Historian) will also be giving a presentation on the Doolittle Raiders.
