Canadian Forces Jet Demo team to highlight Air Show 2014

The Exchange Club of Redding has done it again! The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, who have not appeared in Redding since 2006, we will return to headline Air Show 2014, Sept. 27-28 at the Redding Municipal Airport. This marks the 19th time in the past 21 shows that a jet team has headlined the event. "We're extremely excited and fortunate to have the Snowbirds coming back to Redding," said Bill Wagner, air show chairman.

While the show will feature a number of new performers, the Exchange Club has already signed up perennial favorite Eddie Andreini along with Greg Colyer and Steve Stavrakakis. Andreini will be bringing his P-51, which has never flown in the Redding show. In fact, while P-51s have flown "straight and level" at previous shows, Andreini's will be the first to perform aerobatics. Of course, Eddie will also bring his Stearman bi-plane and perform his world-famous inverted ribbon cut. Colyer made his debut at the 2011 show. His vintage T-33 "Ace Maker" jet was a big hit.

The ever-popular Stavrakakis returns to announce the show. "We encourage air show fans to check back here on our Web site and also on Facebook. We have a lot changes in store for 2014," Wagner said.
For the first time, the Redding show will have a limited number of frontline reserved seats.

In addition, organizers are working out details for a special photo ticket that will allow photographers early access to the tarmac to take pictures of planes. There will be a frontline area reserved for photographers, who purchase the special tickets. The Veterans Salute, which proved to be a hit in 2011, will return and be expanded. Organizers are looking for businesses that want to participate in a special coupon package for veterans. Also, the vintage car display, which also made its debut at the 2011 show, is going to be expanded into a small car show.

The family-oriented, community service event has generated more than $1 million in donations to area charities, churches, non-profits, youth groups, schools and volunteer organizations over the past three decades. It also provides an economic boost to the community worth more than $1 million dollars.
