So...headed up to Mather Airport for the show but had no lens. My Canon 100-400 was giving me problems so I had to rely on my trusty Canon point-and-shoot - so no aerial shots...oh well, here are some shots from the static park. If it's on next year it's definitely worth a look!

Lockheed U-2R/S
U-2S 68-10336 of the 99th Reconnaissance Squadron, Beale AFB in the static park of the 2010 Capital Airshow in Sacramento, CA.

Boeing B-52H Stratofortress
Pylon bomb release details on B-52H 60-009 of the 5th Operations Group, 69th Bomber Squadron based at Minot AFB in North Dakota.

McDonnell Douglas KC-10A Extender
Tail assembly of KC-10A 83-0075 from the 60th AMW based at Travis AFB.

...and a detail view of the fuel dispensing equipment on the tailboom.

Northrop F-5N Tiger II
Training ordnance mounted on the wingtip of an Aggressor Squadron 76-1578 F-5N from "The Flying Saints" VFC-13 based in Fallon NAS, Nevada.

...and fellow Aggressor Squadron F-5N Tiger II 76-1534 from "The Flying Saints" VFC-13 based at Fallon NAS, Nevada.

Boeing T-43
T-43 "Gator" 73-1153 "Spirit of San Antonio" of the 12th Flight Training Wing, 562nd Flight Training Squadron based at Randolph AFB Texas. This aircraft and it's sister aircraft were retired from active duty six days after this photo was taken (September 17, 2010). This particular machine will be used as a gate guard at Randolph AFB but all others will be sent to Davis Monthan for disposal.

Interior view of T-43 "Gator" 73-1153 showing the rather basic crew training stations.

North American P-51D Mustang
P-51D NL151D "Sparky" sponsored by Jelly Belly in a brightly colored scheme.

RDAF F-16B

McDonnell Douglas CF-18B Hornet
Canadian Forces CF-18B #188931 from 409 Tactical Fighter Squadron based at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta.

McDonnell Douglas T-45A/C Goshawk
T-45A/C 167323 of Training Air Wing 2 based at NAS Kingsville, TX.

Most likely it will be only six lightnings. The Red Bull P-38 (formerly known as White Lightnin) is based in Europe, so I wouldn't expect it to show up. That's quite a flight.........

Got this email yesterday.....can you say "7" P-38 Lightnings?

here's their link,  http://californiacapitalairshow.com/

the 38's arent listed as yet, this may be all preparation and no "H'n", like the 6 Tigercats at Reno last year, but if they get confirmed, it may a quick hop over to Mather from 4SD! I dont think quals start until monday the 13th, although arrivals are not to be missed for the big race ;D

Cheers,

ADT
