I won't be going to this because most of us will be at the March RAFB Airshow. I saw this at the Reno Air Races and it is a great event. I did not go last year in San Diego, but I heard it was a great show by some locals that went  :)

San Diego, California

http://www.redbullairrace.com/

San Diego is located in the southwestern corner of the United States on the border with Mexico and is the second largest city in California and the seventh largest in the country. It is nicknamed "America's Finest City" due to its hospitality, beauty and ideal climate, The residents are so active outdoors that Sports Illustrated magazine once called it "Sportstown, U.S.A." San Diego's 70 miles of beaches are a haven for swimmers, surfers, divers, boaters and sunbathers.

The city attracts many visitors due its stunning coastline, near-perfect weather and multitude of attractions which include museums, zoos, and animal parks. It is the home of numerous military facilities including Navy ports and Marine bases and its port houses some of the largest naval fleet in the world, including three Navy super carriers, several nuclear submarines, and numerous smaller ships. Local attractions include the San Diego Air & Space Museum, Sea World, San Diego Zoo and the infamous Gaslamp Quarter.

In close partnership with the city, the San Diego International Sports Council and the Unified Port of San Diego, the Red Bull Air Race World Series will make its second stop of the 2008 season and will race right downtown on the Big Bay against the beautiful backdrop of the city. This is the second time the race will be held in San Diego. The action will take place over the San Diego Bay between Embarcadero Park and Coronado Island on Saturday, May 3 & Sunday, May 4.

There will be two main ticketed viewing areas on the San Diego site, each equipped with all necessary amenities and services. We have one viewing area on the north of Embarcadero island and another on the south Embarcadero island.

A RACE OF SPEED AND SKILL
The Red Bull Air Race World Series features the world's best pilots in a motor sports competition based on speed, precision and skill.

Using the fastest, most agile and lightweight racing planes, pilots navigate a low-level aerial race track made up of air-filled pylons, reaching speeds of 400 kilometres per hour while withstanding forces of up to 10 Gs.

Touching down in ten cities worldwide in 2008, each Red Bull Air Race is unique. From the heart of the city to the open countryside, over land or water, a Red Bull Air Race can take place almost anywhere. Spectacular backdrops and jaw-dropping action guarantee that spectators experience one of the most innovative and exciting new sports competitions around today.
