Yep... I was there yesterday morning. Miramar Saturday, Sheep Fire Sunday.

The roads were locked down so my buddy and I romped my truck through the mountains. I'm so glad I have a lifted truck for times like these. Found a trail that climbed up the north boundary of the ANF and decended into Wrightwood. Climbing a steep portion of trail that was loose, truck started slipping backwards right next to a cliff. :o :D

Once we got inside the evacuation area... it was quite eerie not seeing a soul around. Empty streets, total silence, no signs of life. Since we were inside the closed area after our off road romp the deputies didn't bother us, they probably figured we had press creds.

It was chilly and windy as heck. Tanker 911 even pulled some wingtip vapor.  :o

Great shots of the DC-10, just beautiful 8)

Neptune action on the north flank courtesy of the Fox crews, Tanker 11, 45, and 07.

SBD was socked in with wX all morning so they never launched a tanker until about 1300hrs... we finally saw Minden 55 approach from the south and orbit before dropping on the south flank out of sight. The aircraft then held for a couple hours as the fire laid down.

The Sheep Fire is now burning in Cajon area, 138 is closed and P-2s are flying from Fox (over my house every few minutes). Inciweb.org also says the Mars and the DC-10 are flying on this one.
