Channel 7 had it in HD.  It was awesome.

For my Master's Degree, I am writing a DC-10 Engineering Case Study.
We were lucky to have 10 Tanker at Miramar a few years ago.

They are heading toward modifying a 2nd airframe.

That would make a kick ass ride wouldn't it!? Would be interesting to call them up and see if they could slip you into a jump seat somewhere for promo shots. ;D

Fire fighting DC-10 at Miramar 2006, this is my favorite passenger/tanker aircraft type. Amazing to see something so large doing fire drops.  8)

Any one watching the DC10 tanker making it?s drops on the Malibu Fire today on the news? Channel 11 had some good coverage.
