I had some co-workers tell me that former president George W. Bush flew into KSAN and toured the airplane around 5pm on Monday.  They made all of our employees get of the plane.

Raw from the camera resized.  You get the drift.

Too bad about the weather.

Started taxing at 9:42 am, left with a wing wag at 9:50am.

787 @ LONG BEACH PART 2

More shots of the 787 Dreamliner at Long Beach Airport (LGB) today.

UPDATE: The 787 has won the Collier Trophy! The Collier Trophy is one of the highest awards in the aviation industry.

I pulled into the DeVry lot 2 minutes too late.   :o

BUT, I stuck around a little to the West and got head on and side tow shots from across the runway, so all was not lost.

I will say, I haven't followed the program much (aside from the "issues"), but seeing it for the first time today I was impressed with the design.

The dihedral and lack of unloading on the ground is a trip!

Nice ones Chris.  Wish I could have made it to LGB today but weather looked kind a crappy.  Clearing a bit out here in the Valley.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner arrived at LGB today from San Diego as part of the 787 Dreamliner Dream Tour. It will be here until March 15 to visit Boeing employees.

I have been looking forward to this day for a long time!!  The 787 flying into KSAN!!  It holds a little more for me i think because those Nacelles were made right here in Chula Vista by my company, it sounded great when she whispered by, and when the Thrust reverser deployed.  Although i didn't work fully on the program, I did do a few odd projects here and there for our 787 team.  My claim to fame is that if you ever  see a patch on the inlet, I was the one who sized it!  I know it is not a lot, but that was one of my first big jobs as an engineer.
